2011: David Towers wins silver in Media Week's 'Agency Rising Star' category 

In October 2011, David Towers won silver at the annual Media Week UK awards in the category of Agency rising star for his contribution to growing MEC's SEO team. Read more about the award winners on MediaWeek and BrandRepublic.

2011: David Towers promoted to Head of SEO

In August 2011, David Towers was promoted to Head of SEO for MEC UK from his previous position as SEO Director. As Head of SEO, David is responsible for leading the 25 person strong SEO team across London and Manchester. David also now sits on the UK operations board for MEC Manchester.

2010: David Towers in Mediaweek's 30 under 30

In July 2010, David was chosen as one of MediaWeek's '30 under 30' in recognition for "breaking new ground in SEO". To the amusement of his colleagues, David actually made it to the front page of MediaWeek on the morning of the announcement! 2010: David Towers promoted to SEO Director

In January 2010, David Towers was promoted from SEO and Social Media Manager to SEO Director at Mediaedge:cia. David continues to lead the SEO team, helping to establish MEC's SEO credentials.

2009: Post grad studies complete! David graduates GGSB with Merit

In March 2009, David Towers attended the official graduation ceremony held at the Business School in Grenoble for students graduating from the Masters in International Business programme. David Towers graduated with Merit, with an average of 17/20 throughout the two year course.

2009: David awarded 20/20 for dissertation on Online Marketing Strategy

In February 2009, the dissertation David Towers wrote for his Master in International Business at Grenoble Graduate School of Business, was awarded full marks. The 20,000 dissertation entitled 'A study into online marketing strategy formation within SMEs' can be read on Good Web Practices and is available in PDF format on request.

2008: David Towers launches Beetham Tower website

2008: David starts work at Mediaedge:cia as SEO & Social Media Manager

In September 2008, David Towers joined Mediaedge:cia in Manchester as the SEO and Social Media Manager. Mediaedge:cia is a media planning and buying company and is part of Group M: the largest combined media buying operation in the UK. At MEC, David has been given the task of developing the SEO and Social Media offer, increasing client base and spend.

2008: David Towers professional resume now online

David Towers has launched a new mini site where he is hosting his CV. You can view his CV by clicking this link: David Towers. The resume and mini site have been created by David so that potential employers in the UK can find him through the search engines.

February 2008 - July 2008: David Towers at Schneider Electric

David Towers is continuing to work in Schneider Electric in France. David is working in the Customer Innovation department in the Schneider Electric corporate headquarters in Meylan, France. David is working on how to market Schneider Electric's products to electrical engineers online who are responsible for designing buildings. 

GoodWebPractices.com launched in 2008

At the beginning of 2008, David Towers launched Good Web Practices with business partner Alex Ashman. The goal of Good Web Practices is to encourage the knowledge and use of good practices online. This is done by writing articles, carrying out research and consulting in online marketing.

August 2007 - February 2008: David Towers at Schneider Electric

David Towers is now working as an intern at Schneider Electric in Meylan, France. David's main activity at Schneider is developing a training programme for Schneider Electric employees who are involved in selling products to the hotel sector in Dubai, India and China.

14th July 2007: David and Sophie: husband and wife!

David Towers and Sophie Matthey got married on the 14th July in Switzerland! The wedding service was held in the Collégiale in Neuchâtel. Two weeks later, David and Sophie celebrated their wedding in England with a celebration held in St Andrews Church, Leyland. 

2007: David Towers in the 2007 'Prospects' Work Experience yearly magazine

"Prospects Work Experience" is published yearly in October. In the 2007 edition, a case study discussing the work placement David Towers undertook in 2005 and 2006 is included on page 9. This case study discusses why the work placement at Fingershield Safety was beneficial to David and includes exerts from an interview with David Towers. Here is an extract from the article: "My role was to help the CEO in the US penetrate the market. This meant compiling a competitor report, finding appropriate distribution channels and exploring potential links with other organisations operating within our target market. I also took on responsibility of Fingershield's US online advertising... I was fully supported in my role, given responsibility and encouraged to come up with new ideas...".

2006: David Towers graduates from The University of Birmingham

David Towers graduated from The University of Birmingham on the 7th of July 2006 with a 2:1 honours degree in International Business Commerce.

2006: David Towers and Sophie Matthey wedding day announced

David Towers and Sophie Matthey are happy to announce that they intend getting married on July 14th 2007 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

2005: David Towers and Sophie Matthey engaged

On Monday, 19th December, whilst in Switzerland, David Towers asked Sophie Matthey to marry him. It is with great joy that David Towers and Sophie Matthey can make this announcement as they have been together for nearly 3 years now.

2005: "Most Enterprising Student 2005 in the Greater Manchester region"

David Towers gained this award following an 8 week STEP (Shell Technology Enterprise Programme) sponsored summer placement in a company based in Manchester called Fingershield Safety. David Towers was responsible for developing a marketing plan to help Fingershield (a small UK company) successfully penetrate the American market.
