Technology, economic change, competition, price and revenue - This essay was written as part of my economics course on the MIB at GGSB in 2006. This essay answers the following questions relating to technology and economic change: In what ways might government contribute to improving the knowledge networks within an economy? Critically review the proposition that in the future, those countries that set the standards within IT development will be the countries that wield economic power. What role has technology transfer played in the development of emerging nations? Use examples. The essay then addresses the subsequent questions relating to competition, price and revenue: Why might a restaurant charge very high prices for wine and bottled water and yet quite reasonable prices for food? Why are clothes with designer labels so much more expensive than similar 'own brand' clothes from a chain store, even though they may cost a similar amount to produce? Using the example of the bus sector, explain what is meant by price and non-price competition. If you were the Chief executive of a bus company which of the two alternatives would you adopt? Give reasons for your choice.

Discuss the factors that have led to the increase wage inequality in the UK over the last twenty years. Is wage inequality something the government should be concerned about, or should it be left to the free market? - I wrote this essay for my labour economics course for Professor Stan Siebert at the University of Birmingham business school in 2006. The paper looks at the advantage of the free market and discusses it's advantage.

A report into the Monopolies and Mergers Commissions findings on Birds Eye Walls Ltd. - This essay was written in 2003 for my second year economics course for Dr Pat Hanlon. This paper concerns the Monopolies and Mergers Commission’s report into Birds Eye Wall’s Ltd. (BEW) distribution of wrapped ice creams in 1998 (BEW were alleged to have been acting anti-competitively).
